Advanced Composite Materials is a quarterly peer reviewed - scientific journal, which was established in 1991. It is published by VSP on behalf of the Japan Society for Composite Materials and the Korean Society for Composite Materials. The editors in chief are H. Fukunaga (Sendai, Japan) and K.S. Han (Seoul, Korea). The journal covers all scientific and technological aspects of composite materials and composite material structures, including physical, chemical, mechanical, and other properties of advanced composites as well as microscopic to macroscopic behavior studied both experimentally and theoretically. Novel fabrication techniques for composites and composite structural components are also included.[1][2]
In addition to original research papers, the journal publishes technical papers, review papers, and research notes. As with other scientific journals, news accounts related to new materials and their processing are also included. Furthermore, some papers originally published in Japanese in the Journal of the Japan Society for Composite Materials are translated and published in this journal. [1][2]

Advanced Composite Materials is a quarterly publication of the Japan Society for Composite Materials and the Korean Society for Composite Materials.
The Japan Society for Composite Materials was established in 1975. Its stated purpose is to develop and promote the science and technology of composite materials. The members of the sociey not only work in areas which are considered conventional materials science such as metallurgy, polymer science and artificial materials. Member's expertise encompasses a wider range than this because composite materials integrates science from a variety of interwoven fields, and technologies. Hence, other areas of concern to the members of this society are interface science, process engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, marine engineering, construction engineering and civil engineering.[3]
Various activities are avenues to advance, as well as develop, promote, and provide education for composite related basic research and technologies. The activities include information exchange regarding the most up to date results achieved through research and development of composites. The exchange of information is also oriented toward providing solutions for problems encountered in this interdisciplinary field.[3]
The Japan Society for Composite Materials is the sole academic society in Japan representing the researchers in this field. It fulfills this leading role by organizing and, with other organizations, it hosts various international meetings to promote international exchange regarding composite materials. Hence, another avenue to dissemnate relevant information for composite related basic research and technologies.[3]
